Paper origami- Mini origami notebook

This is one sheet mini book which require the minimal tools to make and much much easier for even kids to make and use – a pocket friendly craft. There are variation to the one described below:

 

Mini notebook

Materials Required:

One sheet of paper – any color

Scissors

Glue and pattern paper  - if customizing the cover page.

Method:

•  To start, lay the paper flat on any plain surface
• Fold in half - longer ends together and open flat.
• Fold the paper other way - shorter ends together
• Lift the fold back one later of the from the open edge to the middle fold.
• Flip the paper over and fold back the other open end to the middle fold.
• Cut a horizontal slit in the paper along the middle two folds.
• Fold the top half of the sheet back and gently push in from the ends to form a box structure.
• Finally, collapse the box into book pages.

Mini origami paper book is ready..

In case the book needs to look appealing, add a drawing or pattern paper as book cover, as simple as it is!! - Samples given below:

Paper feathers are easy to make and takes hardly any time and better part is can be used for so many variety of crafts! Paper feathers can be make out of book pages, music sheets, scrap book papers, newspapers, note book pages, or any paper that you can image of for your best creation.

Materials Required:

Paper straps

Glue

floral wire

scissors

feather template – if required

Method:

1.      Cut a piece of wire and bend one end of the wire to make the shape of feather tip.

2.      Take the paper of your choice and draw a line of glue to stick the wire leaving the bend tip       outside the paper at the bottom.

3.      Now place the second piece of paper on the glued paper to make a ‘wire sandwich’

4.      Cut the feather shape out.

5.      Cut a strip of paper, apply glue and wrap it around the uncovered wire, starting at the top.

6.      Using fine sharp scissors, cut fine diagonal lines into the feather towards the center. Cut all the way down the feather.

Now, sit back and take a look at your creation! You will love it! You can make your own feathers  for more crafts with feathers.

DIY paper clip book mark is much easier to make and more used by anyone who loves reading. It is just adding on some elegant add-on like a ribbon, paper or fabric bow,  button, cute embellishments, pom pom, washy tapes or tassels to make it more beautiful!

  Materials required:

• Paper clips/U pins
• Ribbon or any embellishments
• Glue

How to make it:

Stick the embellishment or tie the bow on the top part of the paper clip. Or stick the washy tape on the bookmark and the paper clip book mark is ready!!

Who would not to see a baby girl with a cute bow on hair and the innocent smile? Bows are additive for any mom who have a baby girl. Fabric bows are easy to make and addictive. Once we start making a bow from fabric and the left over scrap of fabric become more bows. There are many easy way to make the fabric bows.Any fabric can be used: Cotton, tulle, felt, satin or even ribbons. All of them make pretty bows. Below are just one of them.

Fabric bows

Materials required:

1.       Any fabric of your choice

2.     Ribbon

3.     Sewing materials – thread, needle, pins, scissors

How to make it:

Take a 6 inch length and 3 inch width fabric. Fold the fabric length wise and finish the edges.

Turn the right side out

Fold the fabric width wise so that the edges together and pin it..

Gather stitch the ends to make the shape of bow.

Take a ribbon or strap of fabric and wrap around the gathered stitch to cover the stitches.

Sew the ends of the ribbon.

Step by step procedure

Add on: We an use any embellishments to make it more prettier.

Simple fabric bow is ready.

Rock painted cactus for Home Decor

The painted cactus is an easy to do, clean and low maintenance craft which is why this becomes one of my favorite home decor. Painted rock garden is what I call them.. 

It can be be placed on the selves, working desk, dining table of even kitchen counter tops to give that fresh and elegant look of the room.

Materials required:

Mini clay or tea cups

River rocks

Small pebbles/ Sand

Paint brush

Acrylic paint

White permanent pen

Permanent glue

How to make it:

Spread the newspaper on the working area and paint the river rocks with green color.

Leave the rocks to dry completely

Once the green color dries, using the white permanent pen, draw the cactus patterns. Use dots, lines, stars to create effects.

Place the painted rocks inside the clay pot or tea cups and cover them with smaller pebbles or simply with sand.

If needed glue the smaller rocks (smaller new leaves, flower or buds)  on the bigger rock to give that close to original look.
Tada! The painted cactus mini pot is ready!

Bunny lolly pop - a super easy kids craft

Making simple yet cute kids craft is my favorite, especially if it is for my daughter to her friends. Child are most happy when they get the cute gifts. It does not matter if it is a DIY Craft or store bought. They will surely give us the loveliest smile when they receive the gift. Bunny lolly pop is one of the such gift which is easy to make and can be made if less than 10 minutes

Tools required:

• Lolly pop
• Styrofoam Balls or big white beads
• Googly Eyes
• Pom poms
• White craft foam
• White pipe cleaner
• Ribbon of any color

How to make it:

• If we have the big Styrofoam ball, make a hole using knitting needle as big enough to insert the lolly pop stick. Instead of Styrofoam ball we can use the big white beads.
• Fold the wrapper of lolly pop around the lolly pop and slide the Styrofoam ball or the white bead to make sure it covers the end of wrapper.
• Stick googly eyes and pom pom to make the bunny face.
• Stick two pom pom on the lolly pop cover to make two cut small hands.
• Cut out U shape bunny feet from white craft foam sheet and stick to the end of lolly pop
• Fold the pipe cleaner to make the shape of bunny ears and attach the bunny ear to the Styrofoam ball or the bead.
• Add one pom pom behind the feet to make tail.
• Finally tie a ribbon bow around the ear.

Cute bunny lolly pop is ready. This is one of the best easy kids craft that even the kids will enjoy to make and gift it to their friends..

DIY pencil topper using pipe cleaner

Indulging kids on an indoor activity is the most difficult job. One of the best way to have the children engaged in indoor activity is helping them with pipe cleaner art and craft. One of the super simple pipe cleaner craft that a kid can make is pencil topper. Adding googly eyes, beads, felted structures or pom poms to the pipe cleaner would make the craft look more interesting.

Tools required

Pencil

Pipe cleaner

How to make it:

Attach the pipe cleaner to the tip of the pencil.

Secure the holing of the pipe cleaner to the pencil by twisting the pipe cleaner and rolling around the pencil.

Then twist and roll the pipe cleaner to the desired shape  as shown the image.

Super simple pencil topper is ready. Kids will definitely enjoy adding this pencil with the topper in the pencil case to school.   J

Super easy envelope pillow cover

Decorative pillow cover is an inexpensive way to decorate the living or bed room, that too within the budget. Here is a super easy envelope pillow cover procedure that can be made in less than 30 minutes.

To sew the envelope pillow cover, you will need:

• ·         Sewing fabric
• ·         Sewing machine
• ·         Basic sewing supplies

Envelope Pillow cover

Instruction:                                                                                                                

Fold one long piece of fabric to create the front and back of the pillow. The ends of the fabric should overlap approximately 3” at the back.

Lay fabric wrong side down and fold the left and right sides over to create a square.  Position overlap as desired. Pin seam allowance in place

Stitch along top and bottom seams with 1/2″ seam allowance, press.

Turn pillow cover right side out and insert your pillow form.

Rope framed mirror for a nautical look

Mirrors add beauty to any space and make the room look larger. A nautical looking rope framed mirror would add more beauty to the room. Of course, could add the sea shells to make it more beautiful.

To make a rope mirror, you will need:

Rope framed mirror

• ·         Mirror
• ·         Foam board
• ·         Rope
• ·         Jute Twine
• ·         Hot glue gun
• ·         Clip/hanger

Instruction

Lay your mirror in the center of the foam board and attach the mirror.

Wrap the rope around the mirror to get an idea of how you want the mirror frame to look. Draw a line under the edge of the outside rope. Remove the rope and cut out the excess board with a knife.

Attach the rope around the mirror on the foam board using hot glue gun. Make sure to leave some space unglued at the end of the rope to be wrapped around by jute twine.

Wrap the jute twine around the end of the rope and then it to the foam.

Attach the clip/ hanger to the back of the foam for the mirror to be hanged.

Super easy Book marks

Reading is fun and informative. It would be lot more fun if you add the colorful and custom made book marks. 

Kids will definitely have fun making their own book marks. Please follow the instructions below to make super simple and easy book marks. It is just one example of the different creative one that the kids can make though!!

Book Mark

To make a book mark or page tag, you will need: 

· White cardstock 

· Printed paper 

· Thread/Ribbon 

· Heart shaped puncher 

· Glue 

· Scissors 

· Eyelet 

Instruction: 

Cut two strips of white cardstock –length of your choice. Punch the heart shape at the tip of the white cardstock. 

Cut the printed paper of slightly smaller in length and width than white cardstock. 

Stick the printed paper on the white cardstock using glue and then over the printed paper stick the other white cardstock. 

Punch a hole in the top and insert and secure the eyelet. 

Tie a piece of ribbon or thread through the hole. 

Punch two heart shaped printed paper and stick above the ribbon/thread one above the other. 

And pretty paper book mark is ready!!
